NTNUI Koiene
NTNUI Koiene is a NTNUI group that operate "koies". A "koie" is a cabin with lower standard. For example, there is no running water, but there is always a fresh stream a short distance away. No electricity, but wood burning and oil lamps. They are cozy accommodations that we are very proud of! The koie board operate these and make sure that there is always firewood and equipment on them. They also maintain the cabins and organize trips and activities that are mostly open to everyone.
There are currently 23 cabins belonging to koiene, which are possible to rent. These are various and can be found by lakes, the fjord and in the mountains. This offer can best be compared to the Tourist Associations in Norway, but koiene have a completely different style to what you may be used to from the tourist association cabins. They size of the cabins vary (2-25 beds). All are unmanned and much cheaper than the tourist association; NOK 50/100 depending on which cabin you are going on. You get a roof over your head, a bed and an oven you can use to make a fire. There are enough kitchen utensils, but otherwise no unnecessary luxury.
